Thrilled to announce our new name and logo- and importantly the inclusion of a Maori whakatauki

After a lot of discussion with many different groups within our community we have made a slight change to our name. Going forward this wonderful community asset will be known as The Wanaka Community Hub.

The building really is a first for Wanaka- it is a hub for all sorts of activities and groups  to use and enjoy. A large connected group of social service organisations will be resident in the hub, two meeting rooms will be available for businesses and groups to use and a large auditorium seating 150 will be used for seminars, conferences, exhibitions, music recitals and private functions.

The Trust also felt it really important to work with our local iwi to ensure the logo had a Maori "flavour". We have spent some time working with members of our local iwi and developed a wonderful Maori whakatauki- or proverb- and included it as part of our new logo:

Nau te rourou, naku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi - with your food basket and my food basket the people will thrive.

This whakatauki is very much about community and collaboration. It acknowledges that everybody has something to offer, and by working together we can all flourish. We feel it wonderfully describes the purpose of the Hub.
